FAQ

HYPSOS

It depends. Some devices require alternating current (AC) power. These types of devices HYPSOS is not able to power. Devices requiring direct current (DC) can be powered by HYPSOS if they meet several requirements:

  • their supply voltage is in the range of 5-30V
  • their maximum power consumption does not exceed 80W
  • their DC power socket is compatible with the cables available in our offer

If in doubt, simply contact us. We will suggest whether HYPSOS is able to power your device.

There is no definite answer to this, as it depends on several factors. The best option to find out is to try it out in your own system. Apply to one of our dealers and ask for a loan for testing.

Yes, it is possible to order a custom cable as long as we know what plug you specifically need and if we can find such a plug in satisfactory quality. We always want to offer the highest quality products so we will not agree to manufacture poor quality DC cable.

We recommend that you switch off the HYPSOS with the main switch when you are not going to use it for a long time, such as when you go on vacation, however, the HYPSOS is designed in such a way that it can operate in continuous mode and in daily use you can use stand-by mode.

Yes, as long as the new fuse has the same parameters as the original fuse.

Some devices that the HYPSOS powers draw so little current that the values are too small for the measurement system. However, this does not interfere with the operation of the HYPSOS.

Yes, as long as both devices operate at the same voltage level and their combined power consumption does not exceed 80W.

We recommend using-maybe-using a Ferrum Power Splitter to conveniently connect two devices to the HYPSOS.

OOR

OOR is capable of driving almost all dynamic or planar headphones available on the market, e.g. Abyss 1266 Phi TC, Hifiman Susvara, etc. However, OOR is not suitable for driving headphones made with electrostatic technology.

In general, the balanced output provides a signal with greater amplitude (+6dB) and provides greater immunity to noise, however, the single ended connection is not as bad as some see them.

OOR was designed to be a headphone amplifier, however, it should also be able to play with speakers at low volume levels. Keep in mind that speakers usually require much more power than headphones.

Yes, the OOR can to heat up. The hottest will be the bottom of the device, because the internal heat sink is located there. This is completely normal behavior.

Make sure the headphone cable is plugged into the headphone jack properly and that you have selected the correct input with the input selector – the far left knob.

ERCO

If you are using macOS or Linux you don’t need to install anything. On Windows ERCO will also work without a driver installed, but for the best experience using ERCO we advise you to install our proprietary driver available at our website ferrum.audio/support/.

In our opinion USB-C is becoming an increasingly common connector and we believe that it is the best and most forward-looking solution.

The ERCO was designed as a desktop DAC dedicated mainly to headphones, which we always have at our fingertips, so it does not have the ability to be paired with a remote control.

At ERCO, we have used the proven ESS SABRE ES9028PRO chip.
