DDF stands for Dynamic Digital Filtering. As such it relates to the act of using digital filters by WANDLA users. So you, WANDLA user, being able to choose from a number of digital filter. To make it even more dynamic, you can tell us what your favorite filter is and why. We will gather this data to declare the most popular filters, so, as a reward for your filtering efforts, we can replace the least popular ones with new ones. Essentially this is what DDF is. Giving our users a better understanding what filters do with the sound, so they can fine-tune WANDLA to be a DAC perfectly tailored to their preferences.
Via WANDLA’s menu the user can choose from a set of digital filters. Three that reside in the ESS DAC and two made especially for us by filter specialist Signalyst’s Jussi Laako, best known for the HQPlayer app. Per default WANDLA has been set to the team’s favorite filter, so WANDLA will sound great right out of the box. In a sense we gave this setting our stamp of approval. But in order to deserve the name ‘The Converter’, WANDLA needs to go further. Just adding filters was not going to do it for us, and more importantly not for you, the WANDLA user. We actually wanted you to give your stamp of approval to your favorite filter.
Adding of filters will take place via firmware upgrade, for which you’ll be notified once you have filled in our survey form. In the end, by exchanging the least popular filters with the best ones, WANDLA users will be able to get an ultimate set of highly tailored digital filters, which is unique to Ferrum, DAC’s in general, and the audio business as a whole. Welcome to the world of digital filters!
